WEEKLY SYNDICATION RATINGS ROUNDUP

‘Tamron Hall’ Survives Thanksgiving Week Drama

Hall was the only strip in first-run going up from the week before in the session ending Nov. 27 thanks to the ratings fallout from the World Cup.

Tamron Hall was hot but almost everything else was not. Most syndicated shows had little to be thankful in the holiday session ending Nov. 27. Thanksgiving was a ratings turkey for most shows and Black Friday was pretty gloomy too.

Syndies were also sunk by World Cup soccer all week, which virtually blew out daytime on Fox and proved to be powerful competition elsewhere.

In fact, Hall was the only strip in first-run going up from the week before. Hall brought the heat with a 14% week-to-week spike to a new season high 0.8 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen rating, up 33% from last year.

The biggest get of the week for Hall was its daytime TV exclusive with former First Lady Michelle Obama on Nov. 21.

On the other hand, syndication leader Jeopardy tumbled 26% to a new season low 4.5, despite featuring Amy Schneider’s triumph in its thrilling Tournament of Champions.

Wheel of Fortune followed a rocky road, cratering 24% to a new season low 4.1, and skidding into a tie with Family Feud, which fell 18% to a new season low 4.1.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

Entertainment Tonight was Nielsen’s No. 1-rated magazine, although it gave back 14% from its season high to a 1.9.

Second place Inside Edition eroded 22% to a season-low 1.8.

Live with Kelly and Ryan held up comparatively well, slipping just 6% to a 1.5, but still easily topping the talk shows for the 26th week in a row.

Dr. Phil held second with a 1.1, despite seeing a big drop thanks to preemptions.

Meanwhile, Kelly Clarkson, at a 0.9, and Drew Barrymore, at a 0.8, both refused to decline, holding their ground in by far the most challenging week of the year.

The top talk shows for the week among women 25-54 were:

  • Live with Kelly and Ryan (0.5, -17% from the week before)
  • Dr. Phil (0.4, -20%)
  • Kelly Clarkson (0.3, unchanged), tied with Tamron Hall (0.3, unchanged) and Drew Barrymore (0.3, unchanged)

In the household rating rankings that follow, % change is from the previous week; * indicates a new season-high rating; ** indicates a new season low; NC indicates no change from the previous week; NA means not applicable.
