Weigel Rebands Decades Diginet As Catchy Comedy

Weigel Broadcasting Co. today announced the March 27 launch of Catchy Comedy, an over-the-air national broadcast television network that will invite viewers to “Catch All the Laughs” with a deep library of classic sitcoms.

The “focused, fresh and fun rebrand” of Weigel’s current Decades network, Catchy Comedy will be available across the country on broadcast stations of Fox Television Stations, Weigel Broadcasting Co. and other affiliate partners, clearing 69.5% of U.S. television markets. As with Decades, Catchy Comedy will also be available on the Philo and Frndly TV streaming platforms.

Catchy Comedy will focus exclusively on comedy, presenting some of TV’s greatest comedy series seven days a week. Weekdays in daytime will highlight female-driven series and the influential women of TV comedy, including Lucille Ball, Mary Tyler Moore, Carol Burnett and more.

Legendary Norman Lear favorites take center stage weeknights with “Norman Lear’s Catchy Classics” featuring Good Times, Sanford and Son and All In the Family airing Monday-Friday in primetime.

Smart comedies anchor latenight Monday-Friday in the “Smart and Catchy Sitcoms” block presenting some of the best written and wittiest TV comedies including Night Court, The Dick Van Dyke Show, Cheers, Taxi, The Bob Newhart Show and Newhart.

Saturday and Sunday “The Catchy Binge” offers a chance for viewers to binge their favorite sitcoms and classic comedies with a marathon of a different series featured each weekend.

“Catchy Comedy is a celebration of the very best in classic television comedy and will showcase and celebrate a who’s who of funny women and TV legends,” said Neal Sabin, Weigel Broadcasting vice chairman.

The network joins MeTV, Start TV, Heroes & Icons, Movies! and Story Television in the Weigel family of national broadcast networks.
