CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Cleveland Browns and WEWS Channel 5 will continue their five-year relationship as the team’s official flagship TV station for preseason games and year-round programming.

The long-term agreement was reached Friday.

“Our partnership with News 5 has created many unique opportunities to share our organization’s stories with Browns fans during preseason game broadcasts and throughout the year,” said Dave Jenkins, Browns executive vice president/chief operating officer, in an email. “We look forward to building on that foundation.”

Steve Weinstein, vice president and general manager at Channel 5, added: “Everyone at our station is thrilled with the continuation of our long-term partnership with the Cleveland Browns. As the station that has been serving Northeast Ohio communities longer than any other, we understand the passion and loyalty of Browns fans. ”

The collaboration has been a winner for Channel 5. They posted a 20.5 average Nielsen household rating in the region, the sixth-highest such figure among NFL markets.

Through the partnership, they were able to produce the award-winning docu-series “Building the Browns.” The series looks into training camp, the draft and other aspects of the organization.

Details on the upcoming season’s TV programming schedule and on-air talent will be available at a later date.
