With No Olympics, ‘Access Hollywood’ Climbs Triple Digits

In the week ending Feb. 27, the entertainment magazine show shot up 100% from the prior week, moving up three slots and adding more than 600,000 viewers each day.

Many of the major syndicated shows staged sharp recoveries from the Beijing Winter Olympics in the session ending Feb. 27, but none was more spectacular than Access Hollywood, which rocketed 100% week to week in both households and key demos while adding well over 600,000 more total viewers each day.

With that, Access vaulted from sixth place into a tie for third on the magazine rack with a 0.8 live rating. Inside Edition, which added 15%, and Entertainment Tonight, which forged ahead 5%, were the top two in the category.

Among talk shows, Dr. Phil came roaring back with a 13% spike to a 1.7, tying a steady Live with Kelly and Ryan for first place in the genre.

Ellen DeGeneres and Kelly Clarkson were on fire, with both racing into a tie at No. 3. Ellen doubled its target demo as it surged 29% in households and Kelly leapt 13%.

Elsewhere in daytime, Judge Judy and its offspring Hot Bench dominated the court shows with the Judy juggernaut jumping 7% to a 4.8 and Bench banging out a 7% improvement to a 1.5.

Among game shows, Jeopardy had all the right answers and led the group with a 5.9.
