WEEKLY SYNDICATION RATINGS ROUNDUP

World Series Opener Throws Syndies A Curve

Preemptions hit a number of shows, but Extra and TMZ were able to produce, hitting it out of the park with increases of 20% and 17%, respectively.

Game One of the World Series kept a lid on a lot of shows in the session ending Oct. 30, although several managed to score.

For example, Extra and TMZ were the only two first-run, double-digit gainers in all of access, hitting it out of the park with increases of 20% and 17%, respectively.

Extra’s week with host Billy Bush was boffo, growing to a season high 0.6 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen rating despite losing its primary run to baseball in five of the top six markets, including both New York and Los Angeles on Oct. 28.

Moving up by single digits was Jeopardy, which tacked on 4% to a 5.4 and continued to be the game show and overall leader.

Live with Kelly and Ryan, which has been on a tear lately, took a breather and backed off 6% to a 1.5. But Live still landed at the top of the talk shows for the 23rd week in a row (including eight ties).

Of note, Drew Barrymore, which will be getting a big upgrade in Los Angeles, had its most-watched week ever with 1,332,000 daily viewers, up 78,000 from the prior frame. Compared to last year at this time, the most improved talkers were Barrymore (up 60% to a 0.8) and Tamron Hall, which surged 17% to a 0.7.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

Rookie talkers wire led by Sherri, which held firm at a 0.7 and strengthened 33% in the key women 25-54 age group. Jennifer Hudson added 38,000 daily viewers to an average 925,000 per episode and was a solid second at a 0.6 in households, while swelling 50% in women 25-54 demo.

Karamo, staring Karamo Brown, was rock steady, banging out a 0.3 for the sixth straight week.

The top talk shows for the week among women 25-54 were:
