Former Extrella Head of Publicity Marco Gonzalez Launches MaGo! PR
Marco Antonio Gonzalez, a seasoned corporate communications executive, has opened MaGo! PR, a full-service 360° bilingual PR/communications firm.
MaGo! PR, a play on words on Gonzalez’s full name Marco Antonio Gonzalez and the Spanish-language word “mago,” which translates to magician in English, specializes in entertainment publicity, executive corporate communications, issues management, employee communications, community relations, DEI and media training, social media, and English/Spanish translation services in both general and Hispanic markets.
Gonzalez, a 20-plus year corporate communications veteran, most recently was VP of public relations and corporate affairs at Estrella Media, a multiplatform Hispanic media company. In this role, he founded the company’s PR division and spearheaded all corporate communications, publicity campaigns, employee communications, and community relations efforts for the company’s television network, radio, and digital properties. Currently, he also serves as board chair of the Latino Equality Alliance, a social justice and Latinx LGBTQ+ advocacy nonprofit in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles.
Gonzalez is an international, multilingual communications executive with an extensive background and expertise in the Hispanic market and a successful track record in international publicity, issues management, employee communications, corporate social responsibility, entertainment publicity, press campaign development and strategic communications in the U.S. and Latin America. He previously served in various communications capacities at companies including Herbalife Nutrition, Univision Music Group and The United Way of Greater Los Angeles.
“After 20-plus years of working as an in-house PR professional, I have opted to branch out and build my own PR practice in Los Angeles. My expertise focuses on developing comprehensive communications strategies from the ground up and building successful reputation management plans for brands and entertainment public figures. It’s a completely new world and a new journey I am finally embracing, and clearly, a step in the right direction in my professional growth and evolution,” Gonzalez said.
Gonzalez holds a master’s degree in communications management from the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism at the University of Southern California and a bachelor’s degree in Spanish, language & culture from California State University, Northridge.
