The pandemic crisis of 2020 helped hastened the industry’s move to IP and the cloud, and technology leaders working through that transition will share their experiences and prognostications for 2021 in a panel at TVNewsCheck’s NewsTECHForum event, presented virtually this month.

Mike Kralec, VP technical operations and deputy CTO, Sinclair Broadcast Group; Concetta Maratta, executive director, production systems technology support, ABC News; and Brian Olson, sales director, U.S. group stations, Vizrt, will join TVNewsCheck Contributing Editor Glen Dickson for a panel, Advances in IP and Cloud Workflows, presented live on Dec. 17 at 1 p.m. ET.

Concetta Maratta

“Mike, Concetta and Brian have been at the front row of TV’s accelerated IP and cloud transition in this eventful year and are best positioned to forecast what parts of news workflow can best move to the cloud in 2021,” said Michael Depp, TVNewsCheck’s editor. “Their discussion will look into the technologies have shown their resiliency under stress and where their adoption is likely to widen.”

NewsTECHForum will also feature sessions on Novel Approaches to News Storytelling Under Stress; Pivoting the Newsroom to Crisis; How Will Digital and Streaming Storytelling Evolve in 2021?; Remote Production: From Exception to Option; Standing Out on Social in a Historic Year; and News 2022: The Reshaping of Programming, Technology and Audience. Veteran news producer David Bohrman will be the keynote interview.
