WOMEN IN TECHNOLOGY

Balloting Open For 2020 Women In Tech Awards

Nominations for the 10th annual Women in Technology Awards may now be submitted in three categories: The Women in Technology Leadership Award, The Women in Technology Futurist Award and the Technology Women to Watch Award. The presentation ceremony and reception is set for Tuesday, April 21, at the Las Vegas Convention Center, where the NAB Show will be in full swing.

Nominations are now being accepted for TVNewsCheck’s Tenth Annual Women in Technology Awards.

Presented each year at the National Association of Broadcasters convention, the Women in Technology Awards are presented in three categories.

  • The Women in Technology Leadership Award recognizes women who have contributed significantly toward advancing their industry technologically.
  • The Women in Technology Futurist Award, inaugurated in 2019, recognizes women who have pioneered new technologies or significantly influenced the development of new media technology.
  • The Technology Women to Watch Awards shine a spotlight on women in media and entertainment who show significant promise of advancing their industry technologically.

All three awards support the National Association of Broadcasters Leadership Foundation’s Technology Apprenticeship Program, which provides training and industry internships to graduates who are women or people of color. The program has placed scores of participants in industry jobs.

“When we launched the Women in Technology Awards in 2009, many predicted we would run out candidates in five years, so few women were working in media and entertainment technology,” said Kathy Haley, co-founder and publisher of TVNewsCheck. “There is still a shortage of women in technology, but by spotlighting them and their work — and the work of the NAB Leadership Foundation — we are building a foundation for a far more diverse future.”

The Tenth Annual Women in Technology Awards will be presented at a 6 p.m. ceremony and cocktail reception on Tuesday, April 21 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, where the 2020 NAB Show will be in full swing.
