Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier And Akamai To Stream FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022

The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 will be one of the largest sporting events ever seen and is sure to deliver many of the game’s most exciting moments. To bring the experience to its viewers, Deutsche Telekom’s Magenta TV will be the only provider to transmit all 64 matches, live.

By working together, the two companies will enable live streaming of the 64 games via the telco provider’s online entertainment platform. To ensure reliable and stable connectivity into networks of other internet providers, Akamai will supply secured, dedicated bandwidth for the FIFA World Cup. With that foundation, Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier will use Akamai’s Adaptive Media Delivery service.

With the integration of a cloud wrapper solution, the live event source feed will be shielded, and overload protected. In addition, a team of Akamai experts will permanently monitor functionality and performance. In the event of any anomalies, they will be available to immediately implement proactive measures. Akamai says it has extensive experience in live event streaming, as well as the necessary network scaling infrastructure to assure an exceptional live streaming experience.

Rolf Nafziger, senior vice president, Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier, said: “We have partnered with Akamai for almost two decades, including successfully streaming the UEFA EURO 2020. That’s why we know the World Cup cooperation will give our viewers the highest online streaming performance and availability. Over the years, we’ve together made possible true best-in-class content access and delivery.”

In September, Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier and Akamai can again be found partnering, this time by sharing a booth at Digital X 2022. This is Europe’s largest event dedicated to the digitalization sector. The annual conference will take place throughout the center of Cologne, Germany.

“With the exponential growth of data, increases in cyberattacks, and the accelerated move toward digitalization, fast, seamless, reliable and safe content delivery is more important than ever,” said Martin Hellmer, Akamai regional vice president EMEA carrier, channels and emerging markets. “Our Intelligent Platform combined with Deutsche Telekom’s global network infrastructure make those requirements possible.”

BRAND CONNECTIONS

At Digital X, experts from both companies will be on hand to share information about their latest content delivery and web security solutions. For those interested in finding out what these two leading providers have in store, their booth can be found at the restaurant “8ACHT” in the middle of the city.
