NAB Show: Triveni Digital To Debut New ATSC 3.0 Translator

Triveni Digital today introduced a new ATSC 3.0 Translator that it says reduces the cost of ATSC 3.0 service delivery. “Leveraging the ATSC 3.0 Translator, broadcasters can efficiently repeat or translate their existing ATSC 3.0 signal to other areas without the need for an entire broadcast chain, minimizing costs, equipment, and power. In addition, the ATSC 3.0 Translator includes an optional feature for NextGen TV signing, helping broadcasters quickly expand the reach of ATSC 3.0 services.”

Ralph Bachofen, Triveni Digital vice president of sales and marketing, said: “Being able to rapidly launch NEXTGEN TV services is critical for broadcasters, and the ATSC 3.0 Translator is a game changer in that respect. Our new ATSC 3.0 Translator eliminates the need for a full-blown broadcast chain for ATSC 3.0 redistribution, reducing the time to market for NextGen TV services and minimizing capex and opex for broadcasters.”

The ATSC 3.0 Translator validates ATSC 3.0 signals in real time down to the frame structure, offering support for multiple physical layer pipes. Using the solution, broadcasters can perform ATSC 3.0 network troubleshooting and postmortem analysis with log and trend files.

The solution, the company says, is ideal for both public state-wide networks and private cloud-based environments. “The ATSC 3.0 Translator is also perfect for business channels using SRT distribution, signal capturing for manufacturing, signal monitoring for automobiles and remote areas, ATSC 3.0 retransmission, changing channel numbers for local broadcast stations and more.”

Triveni Digital will demonstrate the ATSC 3.0 Translator at the 2023 NAB Show (April 16-19 at the Las Vegas Convention Center) at booth W3251.

You have clearly outlined the benefits and challenges of ATSC 3.0 translation in an objective and honest manner. With ATSC 3.0, viewers can enjoy better image and sound quality, more content options, and enhanced interactive features. Broadcasters can leverage IP technology to distribute data more efficiently, creating new services such as emergency alerts, targeted advertising, and mobile television. However, ATSC 3.0 also faces some challenges, including the transition from ATSC 1.0, compatibility with existing receiver devices, and adherence to security and privacy regulations.

It is important to have access to a reliable and high-quality video translation service from one language to another. The combination of advanced algorithms and neural networks allows for more accurate and grammatically correct translations. Using extensive databases and training the system on them is an important factor to ensure the best results. I need a quality translation, so I need to use as much data as possible to improve the system.
