Nevion Awarded Information Security Management System Certification

Nevion, a Sony Group company and provider of virtualized media production solutions, has been certified for compliance to the ISO 27001 standard, following an assessment of its Information Security Management Systems by independent certification body NEMKO. Aside from protecting Nevion, compliance to ISO 27001 reassures companies and individuals doing business with Nevion, including customers, that they are working with a partner that manages risk in a structured and appropriate manner.

Nevion has been certified for ISO 9001 (Quality Management System) since 2005 and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System) since 2016. Obtaining the ISO 27001 certification “was the logical step for an organization involved in handling data and valuable content — especially as Nevion has been developing for years systems and processes to ensure that these are managed securely,” Nevion said.

Aside from covering how business data is handled, the ISO 27001 certification applies to the product development process also. This is particularly important in an industry that is seeing products shifting increasingly from hardware to software, potentially exposing customers to new security risks.

Morten Celius, NEMKO lead auditor, says: “This is Nevion’s first ISO 27001 certification process yet, in terms of security, the company is where most companies are 3 years after certification. Nevion’s Integrated Management System environment and how it’s used appear to be state-of-the-art.”

Thomas Heinzer, Nevion CEO, adds: “This certification is extremely important for us, our customers, our partners and anyone interacting with us. It underlines how seriously Nevion takes security. Like our other ISO certifications though, this is part of a continuous process of improvement, which we are committed to.”
