Cloud workflows for the media industry have taken a great leap forward since 2020, as leading technologists work toward moving playout and production technology into the cloud. Their progress, and how it’s reshaping their operations, will be the subject of a panel discussion, Technology, The Cloud and The Station Group Of The Future, at TVNewsCheck’s TV2025: Monetizing the Future event on Oct. 19 at the NAB New York Show.

Kurt Rao, SVP and CTO, Tegna; Jeff Birch, CTO, CBS Television Stations; Mike Kralec, CTO, Sinclair Broadcast Group; and Jon Raidel, global lead for live production in cloud, Vizrt Group, will join moderator and TVNewsCheck Contributing Editor Glen Dickson for the 4 p.m. panel. They will consider how the movement to the cloud is affecting technology roadmaps at large and medium-size TV station groups, where NextGen TV, streaming, hubbing and news sharing are all also important priorities.

“Station groups have so many opportunities in the cloud for NextGen TV, hubbing and hubbing production,” said TVNewsCheck Publisher and Co-Founder Kathy Haley. “They are on the cutting edge of so many challenges, and Kurt, Jeff, Mike and Jon will share how their groups are right up there with the networks on testing what’s possible and how they’re moving towards a cloud future.”

Additional TV2025 panels will cover Creating More Content for a Multimedia Audience; NextGen, Streaming And The Future Of Local Media; Cybersecurity: Strategies for Mitigating Risk in a High Visibility Industry; Technology, Data and the Future of Local TV Advertising Revenue; Technology, Data and the Future of Local TV Advertising; and How Data Will Redefine The TV/Audience Relationship. E.W. Scripps’ President and CEO Adam Symson will also accept TVNewsCheck’s Station Group of the Year Award on behalf of his company.
