Telemundo Las Vegas Unveils New IP Plant

NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations has created a new IP-based facility for KBLR, its Telemundo station in Las Vegas (DMA 39), with a virtualized architecture driven by an off-site data center the Owned Stations Division has created in Dallas.

With its new 22,622 square-foot “media center” located at 6380 Polaris Avenue, KBLR is the first NBCUniversal-owned television station to have its news-production infrastructure hosted remotely in an off-site data technology center in Dallas, where sister-stations KXAS-KXTX are located.

KBLR is relying on a private cloud system built exclusively by the NBCUniversal station group, working in conjunction with Ross Video’s multiplatform Inception newsroom system, to deliver over 10 hours of live and locally-produced news programming to Southern Nevada’s Hispanic audiences every week.

The new KBLR facility includes an open-space newsroom and a new studio with a large LED array, new anchor desk and a dedicated weather center. It went live yesterday during the station’s 5 p.m. weekday edition of Noticiero Telemundo Las Vegas.
