UNC-TV Streamlines Emergency Communications For NC Broadcasters

In its continued response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the need to expedite vital information to North Carolinians, UNC-TV Public Media North Carolina announced today that, in addition to its existing live stream, it is now offering live video and multi-language audio feeds to the broadcast community from the North Carolina Emergency Operations Center.

UNC-TV is now using TVU Grid from TVU Networks to share Governor Roy Cooper’s live press briefings concerning the coronavirus pandemic to all television stations statewide and beyond. The TVU Grid feeds are distributed directly from UNC-TV’s studios to all stations, allowing them to immediately take the briefing live for public viewing.

TVU Grid is an IP-based live video distribution solution in which transceivers installed across UNC-TV’s statewide network of transmitters can share content seamlessly. This upgrade benefits broadcasters as it increases efficient communications to citizens on behalf of the state emergency operations center.
