WEEKLY SYNDICATION RATINGS ROUNDUP

‘Family Feud’ Hangs Tough Atop Syndication

The game show is flat in the week ending July 25 but its 5.5 is best once again in both the genre and overall.

Entertainment Tonight took gold as the Tokyo Olympics began in the session ending July 25. Although the vast majority of syndicated shows were no match for the quadrennial games, which began July 23, the one magazine able to score an increase was ET. The entertainment industry bellwether vaulted 5% to a 2.0 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen rating with approximately 3 million viewers each day.

Shows were also brought back to earth by preemptions for coverage Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket launch on July 20.

Elsewhere in access time periods, Jeopardy, with guest host Robin Roberts, receded 2% to a 4.7. That trailed category and overall leader Family Feud, which was flat at a 5.5.

Turning to talk shows, heavy hitter Live with Kelly and Ryan rolled to its 11th consecutive win in the highly competitive genre with a steady 1.7 and a 6% improvement over the same week last year. No other talker was up year to year and only two of the group’s 14 strips were able to hold 100% of their prior season’s ratings: recently renewed sophomore Tamron Hall and veteran Wendy Williams.

The top talk shows for the week among women 25-54 were:

  • Live with Kelly and Ryan (0.8, +14% from the week before)
  • Dr. Phil (0.5, -17%)
  • Kelly Clarkson (0.4, unchanged)

In the household rating rankings that follow, % change is from the previous week; * indicates a new season-high rating; ** indicates a new season low; NC indicates no change from the previous week; NA means not applicable.
