WEEKLY SYNDICATION RATINGS ROUNDUP

‘Family Feud’ Moves Up, Again Topping The Games

With the win in the week ending Aug. 22, it leads the category season-to-date with a 5.47 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen rating compared to Jeopardy at a 5.27 and Judge Judy at a 5.26.

Ratings for the suddenly controversial Jeopardy plunged in the session ending Aug. 22. The show sank 23% to a new season low 4.0 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen rating with “Around the World with Alex” reruns featuring the late Alex Trebek in multiple settings around the world. That was far below the frame’s game show and overall leader, Family Feud, which grew 6% to an eight-week high 5.7 as well as Jeopardy’s sister series Wheel of Fortune, which held steady at a 4.5.

(It was announced today that Mike Richards, the executive producer of both Jeopardy and Wheel, who had been chosen to succeed Trebek as Jeopardy host, had been fired from those EP jobs in the wake of the scandal involving comments Richards made eight years ago on a podcast.)

Judge Judy, the syndication icon preparing to lay her gavel down and vacate first-run after a 25-year term, blew by the court shows for the 1,300th week in a row with a 4.5 despite being in repeats on all five days.

According to the most current live-plus-7-day ratings, Judy has been the highest rated first-run strip every year since 2009 and is the No. 1 show of any type this season to date with a 5.62 compared to Feud at a 5.54 and Jeopardy at a 5.51.

To be fair, Feud leads season-to-date using a live-plus-same-day calculation with a 5.47 compared to Jeopardy at a 5.27 and Judy at a 5.26.

Live with Kelly and Ryan routed the talk shows for a 15th straight week with a 1.6, even though it began its summer hiatus and aired five repackaged episodes.
