‘Jeopardy’ Edges Out ‘Feud’

Jeopardy had the most buzz in the unusually lively holiday session ending Jan. 2, rebounding 10% to a 5.6 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen rating, and edging slightly ahead of Family Feud, which finished 6% higher at a 5.4.

The top-rated syndicated show got a boost from viewer interest in super contestant Amy Schneider who won her 23^rd straight game on Dec. 31 and ranked as the fourth-highest money winner in Jeopardy history.

Elsewhere in access, two of the top entertainment magazines scored with double-digit increases as Entertainment Tonight tallied an 11% improvement and Access Hollywood hammered out a 14% gain. Extra also created excitement with a 50% increase in the key women 25-54 demo despite numerous New Year’s Eve preemptions.

The big court shows also got favorable verdicts with daytime queen Judge Judy jumping 7% to a 4.9 and Hot Bench, the No. 2 gaveler, climbing 7% to a 1.5.

In talk show action, Live with Kelly and Ryan made it two weeks in a row in first place, remaining at its season-high 1.8.

Dr. Phil, which was in reruns all week, was a strong second with a 13% surge to a 1.7.

• Dr. Phil (0.6, unchanged)
• Kelly Clarkson (0.4, unchanged), tied with Maury (0.4, +33%)
