Nexstar To Launch Rewind TV On Sept. 1

The new multicast network will air classic TV hits from the 1980s and 1990s designed to attract Gen X viewers, much like its Antenna TV does for baby boomers with its 1960s and ’70s programming.

Nexstar Media today unveiled Rewind TV, a diginet offering a slate of classic television sitcom hits from the 1980s and 1990s. It will debut on Sept. 1.

At its launch, Rewind TV will reach 40% of U.S. television households — or nearly 50 million homes — including New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. Rewind TV will be available on newly designated or recently vacated digital subchannels licensed to Nexstar.

Rewind TV’s initial lineup will include: The Drew Carey Show, Murphy Brown, Growing Pains, Wings, Sabrina, The Teenage Witch, Who’s the Boss and Family Ties. Nexstar’s companion digital network, Antenna TV, will continue to air some of the most popular programming from the 1960s and 1970s, including weeknight reruns of Johnny Carson.

“This year marks Antenna TV’s 10-year anniversary, and it continues growing and finding new audiences,” said Sean Compton, president of Nexstar Media Inc.’s Networks Division. “To complement Antenna TV’s strong following with baby boomers, we created Rewind TV to give Gen X viewers a network dedicated to their own nostalgic comedy classics.”

Which many aired on Antenna TV for many years Growing Pains, Family Ties has been on Antenna TV for 8 or 9 years in different time slots etc. I think Rewind TV was created since Nexstar is going to lose Katz Networks when that deal expires sometime soon I heard that Nexstar was planning to make a spinoff to Antenna TV. I hope that Rewind TV will air Charles In Charge I really liked that show I hope they bring that back. Rewind TV will be on Wood TV .2 or .3 or WOTV .3 just my opinion. We will not know until sometime in Aug and close to launch when all the TV station groups sign on for Rewind TV.
