Trebek Fans Flock To Final Week On ‘Jeopardy’
Beloved Jeopardy host Alex Trebek ended his more than 36-year run on a high note in the session ending Jan. 10, taking the game show to a 29% increase from the week before and a new season high 6.6 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen rating. Trebek taped his final programs just 10 days before he died on Nov. 8 after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
Wheel of Fortune, which is often paired with Jeopardy, also hit its best ratings of the season, shooting up 18% to a 6.0.
Family Feud, which had led the game show category for the prior two weeks, slipped 4% to a 5.1.
In daytime, courtroom buzz saw Judge Judy jumped 10% to a 5.6 and dominated the proceedings by a wide margin. Judy also led all of syndication season-to-date in the household ratings in this, its 25th and final first-run season.
Live with Kelly and Ryan rolled to its seventh straight victory in the talk show race (including one tie) despite a 5% dip to a 2.0.
Dr. Phil made it close, climbing 6% to a second-place 1.8.
BRAND CONNECTIONS
The No. 3-rated talk show was sophomore Kelly Clarkson, which moved up 11% to a 1.0, tying veteran Maury, which weakened 9%.
