Five Stations Launch NextGen TV In Cincinnati

WCPO, WKRC, WLWT, WXIX and WSTR begin broadcasting with NextGen TV (also known as ATSC 3.0).

The stations:

Scripps-owned WCPO (ABC), Sinclair’s WKRC (CBS), Hearst’s WLWT (NBC), Gray’s WXIX (Fox) and Deerfield Media’s WSTR (MNT).

Today’s launch in Cincinnati follows a decade of development and months of planning and preparation by the local stations. WSTR has converted to ATSC 3.0 transmissions. It will broadcast its own programming, as well as the programming of the other participating stations, in the NextGen TV format. All programming of all participating stations will continue to be available in the existing DTV format, which can be received on all modern television sets.

NextGen TV service is already on the air in more than 30 cities across the country.
