Five Stations Launch NextGen TV In Green Bay

WBAY, WFRV, WLUK, WCWF and WGBA are now broadcasting with ATSC 3.0 technology.

Leading television stations in Green Bay, Wis. (DMA 69), on Tuesday began broadcasting with NextGen TV, also known as ATSC 3.0.

Switching on the new transmission standard are Gray’s WBAY (ABC), Nexstar’s WFRV (CBS), Sinclair Broadcast Group’s WLUK (Fox) and WCWF (CW) and Scripps’ WGBA (NBC).

Today’s launch in Green Bay follows a decade of development and months of planning and preparation by the local stations. WCWF will broadcast its own programming, as well as the programming of the other participating stations, in NextGen TV format.

The programming of all the participating stations will continue to be available in the existing DTV format, which can be received on all modern television sets.

BitPath, which is developing new data broadcasting services, led the planning process and coordinated efforts across the five television stations.
