Morgan Murphy Media earned $48.9 million in the FCC’s incentive auction by selling the spectrum of its UHF WISC Madison, Wis., and agreeing to move to a high-end VHF channel.
In May, it agreed to pay Saga Communications $70 million for TV stations in two markets. They are Joplin, Mo.-Pittsburg, Kan. (DMA 151), where MMM is adding KOAM (CBS), and Victoria, Texas (DMA 203), where it’s getting KAVU (ABC), KMOL-LD (NBC), KXTS-LD (CBS), KUNU-LD (Univision) and KVTX-LP (Telemundo) plus CrossroadsToday.com.
At the same time, the licenses and other assets of KFJX (Fox), Pittsburg and KVCT (Fox), Victoria, now owned by Surtsey Media, will be acquired by subsidiaries of SagamoreHill Broadcasting, which will enter into operating agreements with subsidiaries of Morgan Murphy.
