What’s Up: Gannett completed the split of its broadcasting and print operations in June 2015, and renamed the non-print company Tegna Inc. (It also comprises websites including CareerBuilder and Cars.com. The stations fall under the Tegna Media unit.)
Over the past year Tegna Media has expanded its programming and news commitments, developing a syndicated talk show, T.D. Jakes. After testing the show last summer on a handful of its stations, Tegna cleared it this past fall on 29 of its stations and then announced it was a “go” for a premiere this September. As of early May its clearances had reached 40%.
It has also been overhauling some of its local news operations and this April increased its investment in Video Call Center, an IP video production tech firm.
