Last June, Hearst’s news-producing stations rolled out Verizon Digital Media Services’ OTT platform to repackage on-air news for digital distribution and handle online ad insertion and playback.
In July, Hearst hired Nicholas Radziul for the newly created post of VP of distribution. Last December, Ashley Gold, former KRON San Francisco GM, was hired as VP of sales. This March, Andrew Fitzgerald joined Hearst Television as chief digital content officer. In the newly created position, he works with digital teams at the Hearst Television stations to produce and distribute content on multiple digital platforms. Fitzgerald previously spent over five years at Twitter, most recently as the company’s director, curation.
On April 26, Hearst and Dish Network settled a retransmission consent dispute that had blacked out Hearst stations in 26 markets since March 3.
