ABC News Chief Open to Bloomberg Partnership

Ben Sherwood, the new president of ABC News, said on Monday that the door remained open to some form of future partnership with the cable news outlet Bloomberg News.

Speaking to television reporters and critics at a news conference in Pasadena, Calif., Mr. Sherwood said he had “nothing to report, no news to break” about rumors of any deal with Bloomberg. But asked if he was thinking about a partnership, Mr Sherwood said, “Of course. How can you not think about partnering with an organization that has had the success Bloomberg has?”

He said that ABC News can succeed using a network-only model, but “if we can partner on the digital side or the cable side, we must do that.”

Mr Sherwood also said he had no plan for further layoffs at ABC News, which is mainly ranked second in network news behind NBC, but added, “we have to become more successful as a news division and we are going to become more successful.”
