ABC Sales President Geri Wang Retiring

President of ABC Sales since 2010, she joined the network in 1990 as a daytime planner. She will step down next March.

Geri Wang today announced that she will be retiring from ABC in March 2017, ending a 27-year career at the network that saw her ascend to president, ABC Sales.

In announcing her retirement, Wang said, “It has been an honor and a privilege to represent ABC for these past 27 years. I truly love ABC: the people, the programs, the ideals. It’s been a magnificent journey, and I want to thank my team for all of their hard work, their brilliance and their friendship. No one is luckier than me.”

In commenting on her decision, Ben Sherwood, co-chairman, Disney Media Networks and president, Disney|ABC Television Group, said: “While we all understand and respect Geri’s decision, she will be greatly missed — both inside Disney|ABC and around the globe with our many clients. Geri is a force of nature — one of the best and brightest in our business. Relentless in her commitment to ABC, formidable at the negotiating table and a fierce advocate for all clients, she has raised the standards of everyone who works with her. We all wish her the very best, no one more than I.”

As president of ABC Sales, Geri Wang has lead a team of nearly 300, responsible for advertising sales and integrated marketing across the entire ABC portfolio. Promoted to this position in February 2010, Wang, ABC said, “has been instrumental in extending advertising opportunities and value beyond television, forging groundbreaking approaches to new media and digital. She managed a business group generating multi-billion-dollar revenues annually.”

An ABC veteran who started as a daytime planner in 1990, Wang advanced through various positions of increasing responsibility in sales and management, leading to her appointment as SVP of primetime sales in 2000 and, a decade later, to president of ABC Sales.

Wang began her career as a media research analyst at Grey Advertising and is a graduate of Ithaca College.
