Adrian Whitsett To Join WESH News Team

Hearst-owned NBC affiliate WESH Orlando, Fla., (DMA 18), is adding Adrian Whitsett to its weekend anchor team.

Whitsett will co-anchor weekend evenings and late-night newscasts alongside Summer Knowles. Whitsett will also play a prominent role reporting during the week.

From 1999 to 2003 Whitsett completed four years of active duty in the Marine Corps, serving on the front lines of Iraq where he provided support for light armored vehicles. In addition to his service, he earned several meritorious citations while stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC.

In 2008 Whitsett graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with degrees in both journalism and philosophy. While attending the university, Whitsett held rank as the president of the UNL National Broadcasting Society.

He previously worked for WESH’s sister-station, KETV Omaha, Neb., as an anchor/reporter.

For the last four years, Whitsett has helped raise awareness of PTSD for his fellow returning veterans, interviewing Medal of Honor recipients ahead of emceeing the annual luncheon for At Ease, USA.
