Ameera David Joins WXYZ-WMYD News

Ameera David has joined Scripps-owned WXYZ (ABC)-WMYD (MNT) Detroit (DMA 13) as an anchor/reporter. David was the host of Boom Bust, RT America’s flagship financial news program.

Before hosting Boom Bust, David was a correspondent and anchor for the general news side of the network. She reported on breaking news stories including the U.S.-led airstrikes in Syria, the Boston bombing, and civil unrest in Ferguson, Missouri.

David began her career in TV journalism working in the NBC News Washington bureau as a White House producer, assignment desk manager and production assistant.

This is a homecoming for David who was born and raised in Detroit and attended Detroit Public Schools before her family moved to Northville when she was in high school.

David was also a producer/reporter for Arab America.com where she wrote a weekly column covering issues affecting Arab Americans and co-hosted a special for Detroit Public Television, called Arab Detroit.

David holds a Master of Science degree from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in New York, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
