Anchor Farrah Reyna Joins WDSU New Orleans

Hearst-owned NBC affiliate WDSU New Orleans (DMA 51) announced Wednesday that Farrah Reyna is joining the station as the new weekend anchor of WDSU News This Morning. Her first day on air will be Saturday, Nov. 21.

Reyna was born and raised in Rosepine, La., a small town north of Lake Charles, and she is a graduate of Northwestern State University in Natchitoches.

While still a college student, she was hired to join the team responsible for launching KNTS, a start-up, independent television station in Natchitoches still in operation today. This first experience in television included roles as master control operator, news videographer, producer, reporter and anchor.

Later, Farrah was hired by KALB Alexandria, La., while still completing her final semester at NSU. Over eight years she grew from her first job as a morning show producer to serving as co-anchor of the 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts. After taking some time away from broadcasting to pursue a career in marketing and public relations, she returned to KALB, where she has anchored the station’s 10 p.m. newscast.

As WDSU’s weekend morning anchor, Farrah assumes the role left open by anchor/reporter Latonya Norton who is leaving WDSU after nine years, part of a 20-year career in broadcasting that includes time at WMBN and WTOK in Meridian, Miss., and WHNT Huntsville, Ala.
