Nexstar Media Group today promoted Andrew Alford to SVP and regional manager, responsible for overseeing the company’s broadcast and digital operations in its Southeastern regional markets in Florida, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi.

Since 2014, Alford has been VP-GM of Nexstar’s WFLA (NBC), WTTA (MNT) and serving Tampa-St. Petersburg-Sarasota, Fla. (DMA 11). The appointment is effective immediately and Alford will report to Tim Busch, president of Nexstar Broadcasting.

In his new role, Alford will remain based in Tampa where he will work across the Nexstar organization and with other corporate personnel, while also administering policies and procedures to improve efficiencies and the overall effectiveness of the company’s operations in the markets under his purview.

Prior to his tenure at WFLA, Alford was VP-GM of WTEN Albany, N.Y. from 2010 to 2014 and held the same title at WGCL Atlanta from 2004 to 2009.

Previously, he held various sales management positions in Atlanta; Orlando, Fla.; and Syracuse, N.Y.

Alford began his broadcasting career as an account executive in Rochester, N.Y.

As Alford joins the executive team, Bill Sally, SVP and regional manager, receives a new assignment to oversee Nexstar’s cluster of West regional markets and will be based out of the company’s corporate headquarters in Irving, Texas. The West regional markets were previously under the supervision of Brian Jones, EVP-COO of Nexstar Broadcasting, who now has oversight of the company’s enterprise-wide revenue development initiatives as well as Nexstar’s digital media services division.
