Anvato Adds Live-To-VOD for TVE Syndication

Anvato, a TV Everywhere platform provider, today introduced a new live-to-VOD capability that lets content owners and programmers create video-on-demand files from their live linear streams and syndicate these files to multiple online destinations (e.g., Netflix, Hulu) and MVPDs (e.g., cable operators and telcos) in near real time.

Available to Anvato Media Content Platform (MCP) customers, the live-to-VOD functionality letss content owners, programmers and broadcasters syndicate their shows and other premium video assets, such as sporting events and concerts, as video-on-demand files to MVPDs as quickly as possible after the show has aired live.

“These new capabilities expand upon the cloud DVR and social syndication functionality we announced recently, and offer our customers the most advanced, integrated solution for simple and accelerated distribution of content on any screen,” said Alper Turgut, Anvato CEO. “The new live-to-VOD service is a software solution that automates asset creation and requires no human intervention. This simplification of the workflow offers outstanding value by acting as a bridge between live and on-demand, and provides benefits including lower costs, faster distribution, and convenience to programmers and MVPDs.”

Typically, syndicated shows need to retain watermarks so that the programmer can get ratings credit and maximize ad revenue for the first couple of days after it is live streamed. Afterwards, a clean asset free of watermarks and commercials needs to be prepared, and the asset must be conditioned for dynamic ad insertion prior to syndication. The clean asset needs to be syndicated, replacing the watermarked asset.

Anvato’s live-to-VOD solution automates this workflow and accomplishes the entire process without manual intervention. It performs functions such as:

  • Partitioning live signal using SCTE markers from broadcast automation system
  • Automatically cutting entire shows in a frame accurate manner
  • Associating shows with the right upstream and scheduling metadata
  • Syndicating to the right destinations
  • Producing clean assets by automatically removing commercials
  • Resyndicating to the correct destinations at the right time
  • Reporting on syndication status

Anvato’s TV Everywhere platform is 100% software-based and uses off-the-shelf hardware.
