AP Launches Editorial Planning Solution

AP Playbook is a cloud-hosted software platform designed and developed by the same team responsible for AP’s news production software AP ENPS, with which it is compatible.

The Associated Press today introduced a new planning system that allows editorial and corporate newsrooms large and small to manage coverage plans and assignments.

Unveiled to customers at the NAB Show in Las Vegas, AP Playbook is a cloud-hosted software platform with a modern, intuitive user interface that lets users “quickly and easily access, update and collaborate on planning information with minimal training,” according to AP.

The browser-based tool, designed and developed by the same team responsible for AP’s news production software AP ENPS, is accessible from anywhere on virtually any device. No local infrastructure is required.

“AP Playbook shows users the who, what, when, where, why and how of news coverage in real time. It’s the ultimate planning system for any organization trying to do more with less,” said Brian Hopman, VP-GM of AP ENPS. “Playbook allows newsrooms to drastically increase their output while providing a better way to manage coverage plans and deploy newsroom resources, with an eye to the bottom line.”

AP Playbook is compatible with AP ENPS, the world’s leading news production system, and “works well for companies using other systems,” the company says.

AP staff will demonstrate Playbook at the NAB Show this week at booth SL7606, in advance of a full launch in mid-2018.
