Baron Names Steve Bray Director Of Meteorology

Huntsville, Ala.-based Baron has added industry veteran Steve Bray to its broadcast team. With almost 30 years of experience in the broadcast business, Bray joins the company as the new director of broadcast meteorology where he will work with current broadcast clients to help them produce and highlight engaging, exclusive weather content for their audiences.

Bray will develop strategies with the broadcast team to expand Baron’s customer service offerings. “As a former news director and chief meteorologist, Steve provides a critical perspective to support the broadcast division on a number of fronts,” says Ardell Hill, president of the Baron broadcast division. “His past leadership and success in broadcast meteorology make him an excellent fit for our team. I know he will help us continue to support our current and future clients and guide them to on-air success.”

Most recently, Bray was the news director at WISH Indianapolis, where he managed newsroom staff while implementing research strategies to build brand loyalty. His career at WISH began in 1995 as a meteorologist. He held multiple titles at the station including chief meteorologist; news and weather operations manager; and science and technology editor.

Prior to his career at WISH, he was the chief meteorologist at KPLC Lake Charles, La., and WALA Mobile, Ala.

Bray earned his B.S. in meteorology at Northern Illinois University in 1985. He completed a Science Reporting Fellowship at Cal-Tech University, and an Essential Skills for News Managers curriculum at Poynter News University.
