BCCA Offering Bankruptcy Webinar

BCCA, the media industry’s credit association, is offering a distance learning webinar to address “What Every Media Credit Manager Needs to Know About Bankruptcies” on Thursday, Jan. 16, from 3:30-4:45 p.m. ET.

Led by C. Robin Szabo, president of media collections firm Szabo Associates, the CPE (Continuing Professional Education) webinar will provide an overview of Chapters 7, 11, 13 & 15 bankruptcies, provide tips for conducting business with customers under bankruptcy protection including filing proof of claims and objections, and preference actions with tips on how to defend them. Participants will also learn how to detect warning signs of an impending bankruptcy and receive answers to their bankruptcy-specific questions.

“As we were reminded by the demise of KSL Media, which owed more than a dozen TV networks and other creditors nearly $100 million when it filed for bankruptcy protection, bankruptcies occur even when advertisers and their agencies are experiencing a good economy,” said Mary M. Collins, president-CEO of BCCA and MFM, the Media Financial Management Association. “This webinar will tap into the many insights gleaned from Robin Szabo’s more than 30 years of experience in working with media providers navigating the complexities of advertiser and advertising agency bankruptcies.”

Registered participants for the webinar who are interested in fulfilling continuing education requirements will be eligible to receive up to 1.5 CPE credits that may be applied to their certified public accounting license. MFM is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy.

The registration fee for the webinar is $74 for individual BCCA-MFM members and $94 for non-members. The deadline for registering at these rates is Tuesday, Jan. 14. Late registrants may be required to pay an additional $20.

Additional information about the Webinar and an online registration form may be found on BCCA’s website here.
