Best May For WNYW’s ‘Good Day New York’

In the just-concluded May 2014 sweep, Good Day New York, the morning show on Fox-owned WNYW New York, delivered its highest May performance ever in the key demos of adults 25-54 and adults 18-49, finishing first in both.

According to ratings provided by Fox, among adults 25-54, Good Day New York averaged a 1.4 rating (118,000 viewers), increasing its performance by 2% from May 2013’s 116,000 viewers. Both WABC’s Good Morning America (1.4) and WNBC’s The Today Show (1.2) experienced year-to-year declines. GMA is down 30% from last May (121,600 versus 174,000). The Today Show is down 14% from last May (98,600 from 114,800).

Among adults 18-49, Good Day New York averaged a 1.2 rating (103,100 viewers), increasing its year-ago performance by 12% from last May’s 91,800). WABC’s Good Morning America (0.9) and WNBC’s The Today Show (0.9) also experienced year-to-year declines in this demo — GMA is down 44% (76,000 from last May’s 136,300). The Today Show is down 13% from last May (81,200 versus last May’s 93,100).
