Bill Kurtis Hosts New Decades Diginet Series

The one-hour Through the Decades premieres in May 2015 on the new Weigel-CBS Television station multicast network.

Decades, the new multicast TV network from Weigel Broadcasting Co. and CBS Television Stations, announced today that Emmy- and Peabody Award-winning journalist and storyteller Bill Kurtis is set to host the network’s new daily one-hour original series Through the Decades.

Kurtis is known for his work as a network correspondent, anchor and host. He is also a producer, documentarian and host of numerous PBS and cable series.

Airing in first-run Monday through Friday, Through the Decades is an original informational and entertainment series that will tap the resources of the CBS News and Entertainment Tonight archives to let viewers experience a different year or day, trend or event.

From moon shots to galvanizing events to pop culture snapshots in time, Through the Decades will unlock shared history, exploring the decades of the 1950’s through the 1990’s, reimagined and relived each day.

About this new venture, Kurtis said: “I’m excited about the possibilities ahead and am delighted to participate in this fantastic opportunity to define the digital ‘age’ with new and innovative programming.”

Kurtis is the recipient of numerous humanitarian, journalism and broadcasting awards, including Peabodys, Emmys, CableACE Awards, and the Thurgood Marshall Award for his Investigative Reports installment on the death penalty.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

The new Decades Network will debut in the second quarter on the digital subchannels of CBS Television Stations and other TV stations around the country.
