Bill McFarland Named ND At WFTS Tampa
Bill McFarland, assistant news director at WABC New York, is moving south to join Scripps’ WFTS Tampa-St. Petersburg, Fla., as news director, the ABC affiliate announced today.
“Bill brings over 20-years of successful news management experience in large market television newsrooms,” said WFTS General Manager Rich Pegram in a statement.
“I am confident that his commitment to quality journalism and his leadership abilities will help ABC Action News continue our remarkable ratings momentum of the past year.”
In addition to New York, McFarland has held news management positions in Washington, Hartford and Philadelphia.
“I am looking forward to joining the news team at one of the best stations in America and a company committed to quality, local journalism,” he said.
