Bill White Named GM Of WCWG Greensboro

The former GM of WQCW Charleston-Huntington, W.Va., is tapped by Lockwood Broadcast Group to lead its CW affil in North Carolina.

Lockwood Broadcast Group today appointed Bill White as the new general manager of its CW affiliate WCWG Greensboro, N.C. (DMA 46). He succeeds Matt Pumo, who is now the GM at WDBJ Roanoke, Va.

White’s resume includes more than 30 years of experience in broadcast and media. Most recently, he was the GM of WQCW Charleston-Huntington, W.Va., a former Lockwood property.

White also previously held Charleston management positions at WOWK, The State Journal of West Virginia, WVAH and WCHS.

“Bill could choose to be on the golf course, so we are especially thrilled that he has agreed to continue his broadcasting career with Lockwood. He’s a leader and a consummate pro. I’m confident, from direct experience, that Bill White will take the WCWG team and operation to new heights,” said Gerald Walsh, Lockwood’s VP of broadcast operations.

Smart choice by Lockwood and great choice by Bill. He wasn’t gonna make the Senior PGA but I guarantee he raises hell with his competitors, batten down the hatches !!!
