Bonten, TWC In Retrans Showdowns

The broadcasters says it hasn’t been able to agree to terms with Time Warner Cable for carriage of WCTI and WFXI-WYDO, as the Dec. 31 deadline nears.

Bonten Media Group is in retransmission consent negotiations with Time Warner Cable for carriage deals in Greenville, N.C. (DMA 99) that expire at midnight, Jan. 1, 2012.

Bonten said today that it has so far been unable to reach new agreements for its ABC affiliate WCTI and for Fox affiliates WFXI-WYDO, which are owned by Esteem Broadcasting, but operated by Bonten under joint service and joint sales agreements.

“Despite our repeated efforts, [we have] not been able to reach a fair agreement with Time Warner Cable,” said Randall Bongarten, Bonten Media Group’s chairman-CEO, in a statement. “We are continuing to negotiate, and working hard to resolve this issue in a fair and timely manner.”
