The new over-the-air multicast network targeted to African Americans will be carried on a number of Fox-owned MyNetworkTV subchannels including stations in New York and Los Angeles.
Bounce TV Lands On Fox MNT In NYC, LA
Bounce TV, the month-old diginet for African Americans, is getting a big bounce from Fox Television Stations.
Fox has agreed to carry the network on subchannels of WWOR New York and KCOP Los Angeles and is considering adding it to some of its other seven stations with MNT programming.
Bounce is the first multicast channel that Fox has picked up for either its Fox or MNT stations.
In making the announcement, Fox Television Stations CEO Abernethy said, “We are pleased to allocate our airwaves to provide focused and unique content with an accomplished partner that has a solid business model.”
The Bounce programming, aimed at African American between 25 and 54, include movies, live sporting events, documentaries, specials, inspirational faith-based programs, off-net series and originals.
Bounce TV launched at the end of September.

“With the addition of these Fox markets, Bounce TV will already cover more than 70% of African American households in the United States,” said Martin Luther King III, a member of Bounce TV’s founding group and board of directors.
“By launching Bounce TV as a free, over-the-air broadcast network, FOX is ensuring that viewers stay connected to the community without being saddled by additional pay TV financial burdens.”
A Bounce spokesman said the carriage in New York and Los Angeles put Bounce in more than 50% of the total TV homes.

Pretty big get for Bounce, especially considering network O&Os usually don’t pick up other companies’ diginets. Also impressive since other diginets don’t often get clearance in NYC and LA within a few months of signon, unless they are owned by the networks’ themselves.
