Brandy Sanchez Nexstar’s New Amarillo GM

The 18-Year Texas broadcast veteran will lead KAMR, KCIT, KCPN-LP and their associated e-media and digital operations.

Nexstar Broadcasting Group today named Brandy Sanchez vice president-general manager of KAMR, its NBC affiliate in Amarillo, Texas (DMA 130), and its Texas Panhandle digital media operations including community Web portal myhighplains.com, .biz and mobile.

Sanchez will also oversee Nexstar’s outsourcing relationship with Mission Broadcasting’s KCIT (Fox) and KCPN (MNT) under a joint operating agreement. Sanchez’s appointment is effective immediately, and she will report to Brian Jones, EVP/co-COO of Nexstar Broadcasting.

She replaces Mark McKay, who was promoted last month to VP-GM of KTAL, Nexstar’s NBC affiliate serving Shreveport, La.-Texarkana, Texas.

Sanchez brings more than 18 years of broadcasting experience in Texas to her new role. She joined KCIT in 1994 as traffic assistant and moved up ascended to positions of increasing responsibility, serving as national sales assistant, regional sales manager, national sales manager and most recently director of sales for all three Amarillo stations and their respective e-Media operations.

During her tenure at KAMR, KCIT, and KCPN she lead sales teams and implemented strategies to elevate the level of service provided to local advertisers which led to increased revenues.

Commenting on the appointment, Brian Jones stated, “Brandy brings an intimate understanding of the local Amarillo community to her new role.  Her efforts and initiatives have fostered long-term relationships with local advertisers and community businesses and she has been a key contributor to our revenue growth in this market.”
