DMA 16: MIAMI

Bryan Norcross Joins WPLG Weather Team

Meteorologist Bryan Norcross, who first started his Miami television career at WPLG in 1983, returns to the station in the role of hurricane specialist.

Norcross teams up with Max Mayfield, former director of the National Hurricane Center and WPLG’s hurricane specialist since 2007.

Norcross and Mayfield bring their hurricane forecasting experience to the Local 10 Weather Team led by Chief Certified Meteorologist Betty Davis.

Norcross, who has nearly 40 years of weather forecasting experience, is best known for his work during Hurricane Andrew in 1992. Since then, he has worked to improve hurricane forecasting and educating residents of coastal communities about the importance of hurricane preparedness.

Norcross has since worked for local stations, major networks and, most recently, as hurricane specialist for The Weather Channel before deciding to return to WPLG.
