Calderon Mitchel New KDEN News Director

The former anchor-producer at KBNT San Diego will head news operations at Denver’s  Telemundo affiliate.

NBCU-owned Telemundo affiliate KDEN Denver (DMA 17) has appointed Pedro Calderon Mitchel as news director, effective Nov. 18. He succeeds María Rozmán and will report to Station Manager Andres Chaparro.

In his new role, Calderon Mitchel will be responsible for managing the station’s news operations including planning and production. He has more than 21 years of experience in journalism and joins KDEN from KBNT San Diego where he was anchor of the weekday newscasts and producer of the late evening newscast since 2011.

Previously, he was an anchor/producer for KCEC Denver from 2009 to 2011. From 2008 to 2009, Calderon Mitchel was attaché to the director of España Directo, one of the highest rated programs in Spain, which was televised worldwide via TVE International. From 2004 to 2007, he was news director at KUVS Sacramento, Calif. He also held roles in television and print from 1989 to 2003.
