Camille Edwards To Head News At WABC

Camille Edwards, a local television news executive with more than two decades of journalism and management experience including major-market posts in Washington, Chicago and Philadelphia, today was named vice president of news at ABC-owned WABC New York (DMA 1), effective immediately. She succeeds Kenny Plotnik, who left the station at the end of May after 25 years.

Edwards now has management responsibility for more than 40 hours per week of live Eyewitness News programming on the station and all of its news content on digital platforms, from 7online to Taxi TV.

Edwards most recently was VP of news at NBC-owned WRC Washington since 2008 and, before that, was news director at NBC-owned WMAQ Chicago, from 2003 to 2008.

Earlier in her career, she held positions within the ABC Owned Television Stations Group as assistant news director at WPVI Philadelphia, from 1997 to 2003, and executive producer at WLS Chicago, from 1993 to 1997.

She also has been a producer with WBBM Chicago and WBAL Baltimore, as well as a reporter, anchor and assignment editor at WNWO Toledo, Ohio.

A graduate of the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, Edwards earned her degree in communications with a minor in English.
