Campbell To Oversee Daytime For ABC

In the programming exec fallout following Paul Lee's exit last week, Ben Sherwood gives ABC O&O chief Rebecca Campbell the added responsibility of daytime programming, both network and syndicated.

Rebecca Campbell, who runs the ABC O&Os, has been tapped to take on a bigger role at Disney/ABC.

In addition to her station duties, Campbell will now also oversee daytime programming — network and syndication, continuing to report to Ben Sherwood, president of the Disney/ABC Television Group.

“We’ll be working on the appropriate timing and transition of other support staff in the near future,” Sherwood said in a email to staff announcing the move Wednesday.

Daytime programming had been under the watch of Paul Lee. But last week, Sherwood ousted Lee, moving up Channing Dungey to head primetime entertainment and keeping Patrick Moran as head of ABC Studios.

Campbell’s daytime portfolio includes The Chew, General Hospital, Who Wants to be a Millionaire? and The FABLife.

“Rebecca has been involved in daytime for the majority of her broadcast career, whether through producing daytime programming while at WPVI in Philadelphia or buying syndicated programming for our station group,” Sherwood’s email says.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

“And the Owned Stations have a long history in the daytime and syndication space as well, producing the No. 1 syndicated talk show Live with Kelly and Michael out of WABC in New York,” it says.
