Capitol Broadcasting Launches Live TV App

The Raleigh-based station owner's new app, Watch Fox 50, will allow viewers inside the market to watch live streams of programs, including network shows, on Fox affiliated WRAZ.

Capitol Broadcasting Company and TotalCast announced today that they have launched a new live streaming app, WATCH FOX 50 that gives pay TV subscribers access to live programming on WRAZ Raleigh, Capitol’s Fox affiliate in the country’s 25th largest market.

According to a company release, WRAZ, or FOX 50, is the first independently owned TV station to launch its own stand-alone app allowing local viewers to watch FOX network content on a TV station-specific mobile app.  Viewers who receive FOX 50 through their pay TV subscription (initially AT&T U-verse) will be able to watch FOX network content, including NFL on FOX football, prime-time shows like Gotham and Empire, as well as FOX 50’s original and syndicated programming and local news. Users will only be able to view the FOX 50 live program stream with this app if they are inside the Raleigh-Durham TV market. At launch, the app will be available on android and iOS tablet devices.

TotalCast designed the patented technology that provides the geo-location, geo-fencing and stream management used to ensure the mobile TV signals stay inside the Raleigh-Durham TV market. TotalCast is backed by Capitol Broadcasting Company.
