Castro-Amare Joins WNEU As Sports Anchor

Telemundo’s WNEU Boston (DMA 8) today named Pedro Castro-Amaré sports anchor for Noticiero Telemundo Boston at 6 and 11 p.m.

Castro-Amaré, who will be WNEU’s first sports anchor since the station launched its local newscasts in August 2015, will join news anchor Jose Rivera Adrovet and weather anchor Cecy Gutierrez. In addition to his new role as sports anchor, Castro-Amaré will be a contributor on Red Sox Report Fridays at 5:30 p.m.

Castro-Amaré joins WNEU from sister-station WSCV Miami, where he was the weekend sports anchor for Noticiero Telemundo 51 and as co-host of Puro Beisbol (Pure Baseball), a sports special dedicated to Major League Baseball’s spring training season.

Before joining Telemundo, Castro-Amaré was a radio announcer and news editor at Univision America network, which aired its radio broadcasts across various markets, including Los Angeles, Miami and Chicago.

A native of Venezuela, Castro-Amaré earned his bachelor’s degree in mass communications audiovisual journalism from the Universidad Central de Caracas in Venezuela.
