CBS denies Chelsea Handler is up for ‘Late Late Show’

Cross Chelsea Handler off the list of hosts who could take over CBS’ 12:35 a.m. timeslot.

After Handler posted a cryptic photo on her Instagram feed on Monday  that showed her holding a stack of papers with the CBS logo captioned “business meeting,” the network has thrown cold water on the idea that she is in line to replace Craig Ferguson.

“There are no discussions with Chelsea Handler regarding the network’s 12:30 late night broadcast; her meeting with CBS yesterday was a general meeting with our syndication group,” a CBS spokesperson told The Post.

Handler has been rumored as a potential successor for the “Late Late Show” should Ferguson exit the network when his contract expires in June. As The Post previously reported, the Scottish host is set for a $5 million payday after being passed over for David Letterman’s “Late Show” job, which last week went to Stephen Colbert.

The “Chelsea Lately” host, for her part, has been vocal about her plans to leave E! after her contract expires at the end of the year and is on the hunt for new projects.
