CBS Local Media Taps Vilade For Digital Sales

Advertising and business development executive John Vilade to lead sales for the online, mobile and interactive operations of CBS TV stations and CBS Radio.

John Vilade today was named VP, national digital sales, for CBS Local Media. He will lead sales development and strategy for CBS’s digital assets of its owned television and radio stations. The appointment is effective immediately.

In this new role, Vilade will work directly with the executives in charge of sales for CBS Television Stations (Jim Sullivan), CBS Radio (Michael Weiss) as well as CBS Local Digital Media President Ezra Kucharz.

CBS Local Digital Media combines the assets of CBS’s television and radio stations to create more than two dozen major market specific portals featuring extensive coverage of news, traffic, weather, sports and entertainment headlines; leading music and lifestyle websites, including Radio.com and its variety of live and on-demand audio and video content, and Eventful, the destination for events discovery, communication and personalized recommendations; mobile apps and local commerce platforms, as well as CBS Local Offers, Best-Of Guides and business directories.

With more than 20 years of successful broadcast and digital media advertising sales and business development experience at Hulu, NBC Universal, Discovery Networks and the Weather Channel, Vilade joins CBS Local Media from News Distribution Network, where he was EVP, national advertising sales since December 2013. Prior to that, Vilade was VP, national advertising sales – Eastern and Central regions for Hulu, a leader in premium online digital video for consumers.

Vilade also was VP, national advertising sales business development for the Discovery Networks from 2007 through 2009. He joined Discovery from NBC Universal, where he was a VP in the strategic partnership group, representing national ad sales for all of the assets of NBC Universal.

Additionally, Vilade has experience in a variety of sales and account manager position at the Weather Channel, CNBC.com and NBC Networks Distribution.

Vilade is a graduate of Baylor University where he received a bachelor’s degree in telecommunications and marketing, and a master’s degree in communication studies.
