CBS O&Os Name Murphy Development VP

The sales manager of WCBS-AM New York, Cathy Murphy, is chosen to be VP of business development and strategic partnerships at CBS Television Stations.

Veteran sales executive Cathy Murphy has been named vice president, business development and strategic partnerships, CBS Television Stations.

Murphy will report to Amy Scanlan, the station group’s SVP, business development and strategic partnerships, and be responsible for working with the sales teams at the group’s 28 stations on the creation and execution of new business initiatives and the development of strategic cross-platform sales opportunities involving CBS-owned television stations and other CBS Local Media assets, including CBS Radio stations and combined local TV and radio digital properties; as well as advertising solutions provided by CBS Outdoor and EcoMedia, CBS Corporation’s environment media unit.

She joins the CBS Television Stations group after being sales manager at WCBS-AM New York since 2009. During her tenure as a member of the station’s sales management team, WCBS-AM achieved the distinction of being the top billing radio station in New York in 2009 and 2010. She joined the station as retail sales manager in 2004, and was promoted to local sales manager in 2006 before being named sales manager in 2009.

Murphy joined CBS in 2001 (when the company’s radio group was known as Infinity Broadcasting) as an account executive with KBKS-FM Seattle. She is a graduate of the University of Colorado with a B.A. in business Spanish for the professions.
